"Carmina Burana" - an iconic celebration in music of the beauty, power, joy and fragility of life. Poems about Fortune, Spring, the Countryside, the Tavern, and the World of Love created by travelling and world-wise monks working in Bavaria in medieval times and set to music by Carl Orff eighty years ago. Performed now by the singers of Worthing Choral Society, the Sinfonia of Arun orchestra, national soloists Alison Pearce, James Cleverton and Jake Barlow and the voices of Sompting Village Primary School. The powerful opening bars have been the sound-track for many crime-movies and also a well-known aftershave. This performance was booked for March 2020 but now, delayed by covid, returns with the promise of smiles, foot-tapping and a few tears. A must for every heart deprived of live choral music for the last eighteen months.
