Borrowing Music

I am the conductor of a Kendal-based chamber choir The Pro Nobis Singers. You can check us out on our website We have two exciting concerts coming up: A concert entitled 'From Plainsong to Arvo Paertand his contemporaries' on 20 March (venue tbc following flooding of original venue). The programme will include Manuel Cardoso's Missa pro defunctis, motets by Duarte Lobo, Lassus and de Wert followed by works by John Tavener, Arvo paert and Ola Gjeilo. We are three copies short of Paert's Nunc dimmitis and Triodion; if anyone reading this could lend us acopies we should be grateful.
Our next concert is in St Mary's Parish Church Ambleside on 18 June when we will perfrom Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Psalms" and Jonathan Dove'e new work 'Arion and the Dolphin'. If any society wishes to perform this work after our June concert, we have a full set of scores and parts available for hire.

I am not very confident or experienced with singing but i really want to get over it and put my self out there to start singing in public

Hi Sabrina,

That's great! Being a bit nervous about singing in public is more common than you'd think, but everyone starts somewhere and there are lots of groups that are happy to have newbies!

Why not start with our Find a Group searchYou can put in your postcode and the kind of music you're interested in (group type and genre) and find groups in your area.

Once you've found a few groups that might suit you, get in touch them and go and give it a try. Many groups have Come and Sing open days for people to come and see what it's like, and that way you can get a feel for whether the type of music, the people and the level is what you want without committing to anything.

Happy singing!
