Support for Orchestra member living with dementia

Does anybody have any experience of coping with an ensemble member who is living with dementia?

We are keen to keep them playing with us for as long as possible but it's getting increasingly difficult (lost music/personal belongings, constant disagreements with other members of the section, anxiety around concerts, to name a few of the issues).

Any advice, signposting to help etc gratefully received...

Many thanks

Nina Swann

Does the musician in question have a carer? If so, it’s worth asking them for advice on coping with the situation, or maybe asking them to come along to a rehearsal for some more bespoke advice? The carer will understand the person’s individual needs the best.
