Sir Michael Tippett established the Foundation in 1979 to encourage the music of the future with funds from the sale of his manuscripts to the British Library.
The funding is intended to support community organisations and schools undertaking projects for the development of group music-making, particularly for the young.
Projects taking place in or out of school, college or university, or in community settings in the UK will be considered.
The single priority for funding is the development of group music making, especially involving young people in projects incorporating composition and creative ideas.
The Trustees will consider applications for first-time initiatives as well as the development of existing projects.
