South London Singers Celebrate Christmas
South London Singers
South London Singers celebrate Christmas with a concert of music old and new, well-known and with some surprises. It will take place at St George's Church, Beckenham on Saturday 14 December 2019.
The choir is very happy that Nicholas Wibberley, its new Director (since July this year), will be conducting his second concert. The organist, Ian Shaw, will accompany the choir in a varied programme of Christmas music as well as several favourite audience carols. His moment to shine will be in the work by David Willcocks, Sing!, which involves him playing the impressive Toccata from Symphony No. 5 by Widor while the choir sings parts arranged by Willcocks.
Other works will include A celebration of Christmas by Karl Jenkins - a collection of six carols, both original and arranged by Jenkins, Darke In the bleak midwinter, Berlioz The Shepherds' farewell as well as works by Mathias, John Rutter, Praetorius and a first performance of a carol by Roger Wibberley.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the interval.
