Young musicians: about the PDGYA scheme

Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artists (PDGYA) awards

The PDGYA awards have helped kick start the careers of artists including Steven Isserlis, Elizabeth Watts and Thomas Gould, by providing up-and-coming classical musicians with performing opportunities with Making Music’s 3,200+ member groups.

The winning artists will benefit from:

  • paid professional engagements from mid 2017 to mid 2019 with concert clubs, orchestras and choirs
  • a free, full page profile in the 2017 Selected Artists guide, sent to our 3,200+ member groups
  • promotion via our communication channels (magazine, enewsletter, website and social media)
  • an unpaid lunchtime recital opportunity at St Martin-in-the-Field, London

I feel very lucky to have been an AYCA Artist over the last two seasons (2014-16) and my sincere thanks to Making Music for making it possible. I am always raving about this fantastic scheme to my fellow musicians and have felt very supported. Many of my concerts as an AYCA Artist have led to re-invitations, both for recitals at music clubs and as soloist for various orchestras.
