This September, the Henry Watson Music Library and Making Music are joining forces for a day of library-based learning in Manchester.
The day – Thursday 14 September – is split into two parts:
1pm - 4.30pm: Success with Music Inter-library Loans (presented by the Henry Watson Library)
Cost: £45 (concessions £20)
This half day course is designed to help public and academic music library staff successfully obtain music materials via the library interlibrary loan network. It is also intended for this course to be helpful to members of local music groups and societies in tracking down music sets for their choir or orchestra.
IAML and Henry Watson Library staff will take you through ways to obtain both single scores and sets of music materials and includes online demonstrations of free websites, especially Encore! 21 the online catalogue of vocal and orchestral sets in the UK libraries.
4.45pm - 6.15pm: Information and advice event: tour and talk (presented by Making Music)
A tour and talk about the Henry Watson Library, one of the largest and most renowned public music libraries in the UK, including discussion about current issues around music libraries and music sourcing.
This event will be run by Ros Edwards who manages the Henry Watson Library and Barbara Eifler, Executive Director for Making Music who has been campaigning for music libraries and working with local authorities to maintain such resources for the use of music groups.
