MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Based within commuting distance of Haverhill, Suffolk

Rehearsals: Monday evenings; Concerts: at least 3 per year

Originally formed in the 1860’s by a local manufacturer & enjoying its continued support, the Haverhill Singers has a strong membership including 12 sopranos, 14 altos, 5 basses and 5 tenors.

We enjoy a history of sold-out concerts and videos of performances in 2023/4 can be found on YouTube and on  our website: www.haverhillsingers.org. Our concerts are regularly attended by the Mayor, town councillors and other local dignitaries/business people.

Our most recent concert 'A Passion for Easter' featured the chorales and chorales from Bach's St. John's Passion and was hailed by a professional performer in the audience as 'seamlessly professoinal with voices that fused beautifully together producing a thrilling sound'.

About us:

Haverhill Singers is a non-auditioning choir who welcomes everyone with open arms. Currently our membership age range ois24 – 84!! As a result, we tackle a wide repertoire of works from J.S. Bach to Eric Whitacre and George Gershwin to Bill Withers. Concerts are carefully themed to produce maximum interest and impact.

What unites us is the love of singing and the friendly, supportive personalities of our committee and members.

We seek a new Musical Director to replace Matthew, our current and insirational MD (who is relocating to Norway).

Ideally, applicants should have:

• a joy and passion for choral music
• proven experience in participating in choirs as a singer, accompanist or as an arranger of music for SATB.
• conducting and leadership skills (a lack of formal experience in these areas should not deter applicants with in-depth musical training)
• a professional, positive and optimistic personality with a long-term commitment to helping us reach our full potential.
