Brahms' German Requiem
FROM CARNEGIE HALL TO WELLINGBOROUGH!
The members of Wellingborough Orpheus Choir are delighted to welcome back two of our favourite soloists for our performance of Brahms’ German Requiem at St Barnabas Church, Wellingborough on Saturday 8th April. Based in Canada, award winning soprano and actress Michelle Todd has performed all over the world and possesses “a soaring voice with beautiful pitch and perfect diction” (The Daily News, Canada). She has appeared in London’s Cadogan Hall and Albert Hall, and debuted in New York’s Carnegie Hall with the chamber group Ensemble Resonance in January this year. Baritone Wesley Biggs is in demand throughout the UK for his “magnificent voice” (Discover magazine) and wowed choir and audience alike when he first sang with us in Wellingborough in 2015. Michelle and Wesley will be performing solo items in the first half of the concert, finishing with a duet.
An award from the Waitrose Music Matters scheme and a grant from Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Community First Fund have enabled us not only to have an orchestra to accompany the Requiem, but also to keep ticket prices affordable. This is a rare opportunity to experience a live classical concert with orchestra and superb professional soloists in Wellingborough, and we shall be singing in English rather than the original German! It promises to be a memorable event.
