Monteverdi Vespers: Durham Singers & I Fagiolini

In an exciting collaboration with the internationally-renowned early music group I Fagiolini and their musical director Robert Hollingworth, the Durham Singers present Monteverdi's 1610 Vespers in Durham Cathedral. In the fourteen movements of the Vespers, Monteverdi combines magnificent choral writing, often in two choirs, with sensual and virtuosic solos, which will be sung by members of I Fagiolini. Complementing the expressive vocal lines are the distinctive sonorities of sackbuts and cornetts, dulcian, theorbo and recorders, played by the English Sackbut and Cornett Ensemble and the Monterverdi String Band. This is I Fagiolini's first visit to Durham Cathedral, and tickets are expected to be in high demand, so early booking is advised.
