An Autumn Serenade with The Elgar Chorale and Trianon music group

St George’s R.C. Church is where Elgar and his music began their journey to fame. It was where Elgar followed his father as organist, in 1885.The Trianon Music Group is an orchestra and choir group, based in Ipswich and sing in the town and further afield.The Elgar Chorale is a mixed voice choir with up to 40 singers, many professional musicians. We run a busy programme of concerts in Worcester and beyond.The two ensembles will perform their own programme for half of the concert, coming together at the end of each half.

The programme, will include music by Karl Jenkins, Howard Goodall, Scott Joplin, Elgar, John Rutter and others. From spirituals to lullabies, madrigals to anthems.  From ‘A Capella’ and accompanied singing, to organ solos and instrumental pieces. This concert will have it all!

Trianon will be singing the spirituals “Marchin’ on up” and “River to Judea” with Vivaldi and Elgar from Trianon’s wind players to follow.; anthems from Karl Jenkins and Howard Goodall and Elgar’s “Vesper Voluntary” with Stephen Hogger on the organ;  Will Todd’“Lighting the Way” and “Every Stone Shall Cry” with Scott Joplin’s “Elite Variations” for wind ensemble. Both choirs sing Elgar’s beautiful “The Spirit of the Lord”.The second half will contain madrigals by Howells, “In Youth is Pleasure” and “Before me Careless Lying” and also include the rousing “Imperial March” by Elgar played by Andrew Caskie on the organ: Piers Maxim’s own lovely “Four Lullabies for the Girls”,  John Rutter's arrangement of the spiritual “Down by the Riverside” brings the concert to a close, there will be something for everyone!
