An Evening of Beautiful Music

Celebrate an evening of beautiful music with the Weald Choir of Crawley

On Saturday 12th March at 7.30pm, the Weald Choir of Crawley, with guest conductor Tom Primrose, will perform a selection of beautiful music at St Mary’s Church, Southgate, RH10 6DL.

Our main piece of the evening will be Dvořák’s Mass in D. Written in 1887 this is the only one of Dvořák’s masses that still exists. Extremely melodious and lyrical, this mass was conceived for a more intimate space and occasion than Dvořák’s large-scale choral works. It has often been described as pastoral, reflecting the composer’s love of nature.

The programme will also include the ever popular anthem Hear my Prayer, by Mendelssohn, which includes the familiar solo O for the wings of a dove. Following the theme of beautiful music, the choir will be performing a selection of Bruckner motets, Geistiches Lied by Brahms and Fauré’s gorgeous Cantique de Jean Racine, along with other tuneful favourites.

Jane Lister (harp) will delight us with some solo items and we also welcome Gina Eason (organ). Please come and join us for a wonderful evening of music-making.
