Mozart Requiem and Dyson Hierusalem

Harpenden Choral Society opens its 42nd season with a programme of works by Sir George Dyson and W.A. Mozart.  Both the highlight of the evening’s performance, the Mozart Requiem, and Dyson’s Hierusalem are works which were written towards the end of their respective composers’ lives, and celebrate with awe and joy the heavenly life beyond. In the case of the Requiem, Mozart famously failed to complete it because he was working on his last two operatic commissions (The Magic Flute and La Clemenza di Tito); we have therefore asked our four soloists to each sing an aria from these operas that resonates with the Requiem.  Conducted by John Andrews, with orchestral accompaniment by the King’s Sinfonietta and featuring soloists Gillian Ramm, soprano; Olivia Ray, mezzo-soprano; Richard Pinkstone, tenor; and Andrew Slater, bass, this promises to be an evening of glorious music.
