Elgar: The Dream of Gerontius

Join Lewisham Choral Society, Bromley Boy Singers and 3 outstanding soloists for Elgar’s masterpiece, The Dream of Gerontius. The tale of a dying man’s journey to the afterlife, encounters with angels and demons, a thunderous glimpse of God and a bathe in the lake of Purgatory inspired the most dramatic, poignant and sublimely peaceful music, ending as an angel’s voice floats over double choir and boy treble ‘angelicals’. Soloists Peter Davoren, Elisabeth Meister and David Stout are all well-established performers of opera and oratorio. Accomplished community choir LCS’ performances include 3 near sell-out concerts at the Southbank. The Bromley Boy Singers have just celebrated their 40th anniversary and recently performed in Paris.Talented conductor Dan Ludford-Thomas directs LCS and several other choirs and worked on BBC’s ‘The Choir’. The popular Forest Philharmonic has performed with LCS at the Festival Hall. Organist James Orford is currently Organ Scholar at St Paul’s Cathedral.
