In Praise of Song: a Parry anniversary concert

The great British composer and Oxford Professor Hubert Parry (1848-1918) was described by Stanford as the best since Purcell. ‘In Praise of song’, ‘O love, they wrong thee’ and ‘Come pretty wag and sing’ all have Oxford connections, and ‘Put off, O Jerusalem’ is the splendid final chorus from his highly successful oratorio Judith.

Along with music by composers connected to Parry, SCS will also perform two of Purcell's most loved anthems, ‘My beloved spake’ and ‘My heart is inditing’, with Instruments of Time and Truth and eight stunning soloists.
