Reclaim 23% of your concert costs (online event)
About the event:
Since 2017, Making Music have supported 90 groups claim Creative Tax Relief (CTR) amounting to over £1m in total. But we know there are lots more groups that could be taking advantage of this service.
If you’re part of an instrumental, musical theatre or opera group, you could be eligible for Creative Tax Reliefs – even if your group doesn’t pay tax.
CTR are offered by HMRC as a way to incentivize the creative industries. A common misconception is that you have to be paying tax to claim tax relief, but that isn’t the case. Charities that have not previously paid any tax can still claim tax reliefs and receive a payment from HMRC. All the groups we help claim CTR are registered charities.
On average a claim is equal to 23% of annual production costs (that is all rehearsal and performance costs that go into putting on an event). For many groups, claiming CTR has meant greater financial stability allowing them try new projects, larger scale programming and engage with professionals and more.
If you are an instrumental (with 12 or more instrumentals), musical theatre or opera group, come along to this this event to find out more. We’ll explore the potential benefits of claiming CTR, explain how the process works and how you can claim.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the event and the presenters will stay online from 6.30pm until 7.00pm to answer these and any additional questions and for more tailored support.
