This term we will be rehearsing not one requiem, but two, for our concert on Saturday 4 April. At the concert, we will be singing along with professional musicians and soloists, always very thrilling! Both requiems were composed in the last 80 years. Durufle worked on his during WW2 and it was first published after the war. He was inspired by Faure and aims to be calm and reflective. Most of the musical themes are based on Gregorian chant. Rutter wrote his in the 1980s and it has a wide variety of musical roots, both classical and popular.
Rehearsals are weekly and are led by our Musical Director Sue Heath Downey. They begin on Tuesday 14 January at 7.45pm. We are a community choir, no auditions. Anyone who wants to sing can come along and join in. We look forward to seeing you on the 14th!
The subscription is £45 for the term (concession £20), plus £5 score hire.
