Vive la Musique!

Local writer and broadcaster David Saint will be hosting this evening of choral and instrumental music by French composers from medieval times to the 20th century, including Fauré’s beautiful 'Cantique de Jean Racine' and a medley from Bizet’s popular opera 'Carmen', conducted by the choir’s musical director, Mark McBride.

Guest soloists will be flautist Mina Middleton, a student of the Royal Academy of Music, and cellist Robert Jones, graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire. Their solo items will include Poulenc’s 'Flute Sonata' and 'The Swan', the haunting cello solo from 'The Carnival of the Animals' by Saint-Saëns, and they will also be accompanying the 'Carmen' medley with Andrew Hudson on piano.
