When it is Peace
Ayr Choral Union
Ayr Choral’s October Concert “When It Is Peace…” is on Sunday 27th October in Ayr Town Hall. The focus is on the experience of war through two major works – Sir Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man – a Mass for Peace” which is currently the most performed choral work by a living composer, and “All the Hills and Vales Along” by Sir James MacMillan which was acclaimed at the recent Cumnock Tryst Festival. “All the Hills and Vales Along” comes from a poem by Charles Hamilton Sorley who was killed by a sniper at the Battle of Loos in 1915 at the age of 20.
Soloists are Catriona Smith and Matthew McKinney and the Newmilns and Galston Brass Band will accompany the Choir, with Andrew Forbes on the organ and the McOpera Ensemble. Andrew McTaggart will conduct the performance.

With new-won eyes each other’s truer form
And wonder”
