Besses Boys' Band

The World Famous Besses Boys' Band is a Second section graded North West Area brass band formed in 1943.

Based in Simister, Manchester we are a local brass band providing music services to the local community and beyond for 78 years.

We have performed throughout Great Britain, Europe and Australia. We have performed to high class figures, celebrities and her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Our varied programme of events can be found on our Events page, which includes concerts, community events, charity events and private bookings.

The band is self-financed by its members, along with income from concerts and sponsorship from local businesses. the band regularly participate in many community events, such as the annual Royal British Legion's Remembrance Day Parade and in Summer 2017 we helped raise over £2,000 for the Manchester Emergency Fund, supporting those whose lives were affected by the tragic terrorist attack at the Arena in May 2017.

The band has such a good rapport, and the bond between players within the organization is amazing. Everyone is proud to be a part of the organization and we are all proud to represent Whitefield and the surrounding area both on and off the contest stage. We are looking forward to many more years of music making and to continue supporting the development of young talent in music and performance skills.
