Second City Sound is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Music Director to lead our well-established, friendly, and competitive ladies’ barbershop chorus into its next exciting chapter.
About Us
Second City Sound is a long-standing member of the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS). We are a passionate group of women who share a love for four-part harmony, performing, and supporting each other as part of a true musical family.
Our ethos is built on teamwork, fun, mutual respect and a shared commitment to excellence. We strive to continually develop our vocal skills, musical artistry, and performance confidence while maintaining the warmth and camaraderie that define who we are.
Rehearsals: Monday evenings in Great Barr, North Birmingham (5 minutes from J7 M6)
We are Looking For Someone Who Can:
Inspire, motivate, and develop singers at all levels of experience
Build on our solid vocal foundation and raise our performance standard
Lead effective, engaging rehearsals that balance fun and focus
Help us prepare for national competitions, local performances, and community events
Support and work collaboratively with our dedicated Music and Management Teams
Share our vision to grow the chorus, musically and personally, within the spirit of barbershop harmony
You will Bring:
Experience directing or coaching barbershop or a cappella ensembles (LABBS/BABS/ affiliation desirable)
Excellent communication and leadership skills
A passion for empowering singers and bringing out the best in people
Musical knowledge and an understanding of barbershop style, techniques, and contest preparation desirable
