Online rehearsals

Burgess Hill Choral Society

Come and join us for online rehearsals using "Zoom".   We meet every Monday at 7.45pm.  Currently we are rehearsing Haydn "Creation", and dipping into short pieces of music such as the madrigal "Farewell sweet Amarillis" and Fauré's "Cantique de Jean Racine".  There is no charge for trying us out, but if you join us for a full term we will ask for a subscription.

Each rehearsal comprises a sing-through of the current pieces of music.  Then each voice part spend about 25 minutes in a "breakout room", singing through an individual voice part (e.g. bass).  We then have a "social break" of around ten minutes, when we re-allocate into random groups (or go off to make a cup of tea!).  We finish with some more sing-throughs, often focusing on trickier sections of the music.

The rehearsal is supported with rehearsal tracks (often from Choralia), and with PDFs of scores annotated with bar numbers and breathing suggestions.

When singing, one can only hear one's own voice, so there's no fear of embarrassment if you're a bit rusty.  This also means that one can sing along with rehearsal of another voice part: good for entries and synchronisation.
