Cappella Novocastriensis

Cappella Newcastle's first concert of the new season, “Saints and Angels” 7.30 pm at Saint James’s URC, Northumberland Road, Newcastle NE1 8JF (near the City Hall) on Saturday November 13th 2021, falls between All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, and St Cecilia’s Day, offering time to reflect and to remember those we love who have died. Byrd’s Four Motets for All Saints and Dering’s Factum est Silentium lend a frame to more recent works: Howells’ Hymn for Saint Cecilia, Leighton’s Sequence for All Saints and Bairstow’s Blessed City, Heavenly Salem. In addition we are including Neil Cox’s work for solo organ which in its four movements compliments the traditional iconography of the Archangels.
