In this accessible event for people of all ages, the orchestra will perform a variety of light classical music.

A theme throughout the event is various styles of dancing, including The Sleeping Beauty Suite of ballet music by Tchaikovsky, Dance of the Comedians by Smetana and Two South American Tangos to get your toes tapping!

The programme also includes Stravinsky's Danse Infernale, music from The Seasons Ballet by Glazounov and Borodin's On the Steppes of Central Asia (which could be considered part of the theme because 'steps' are a dance move...).

Special guests will be 'The Auckland Shanty Singers' with a repertoire of lively tunes ranging from the high seas to the local railways!

• A printed programme is included in the ticket price, providing brief details about the music and composers; plus, there’ll be a version written for children aged 5–11 years.
