Darlington Orchestra Winter Concert 2016

Darlington Orchestra

An accessible and entertaining evening of great classical music

The orchestra does not have a set repertoire, but always plays an eclectic selection of music from the past few centuries.

This time the programme features: Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.1 'Land of Hope and Glory'; Soirées Musicales by Rossini, arranged by Britten; Mendelssohn’s ‘Introduction and Fugue’; pieces by Brahms, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky; and medleys from popular musicals by Lerner & Loewe and Lloyd Webber.

Special guests SING Darlington will perform acapella arrangements of a variety of songs including: traditional Gospel tunes; ‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers; ‘To Sing by the Fire’ by Mozart; Unst Boat Song; and ‘Goodnight, Sweetheart’ by Carter and Hudson.

In addition to the general printed information provided for the audience, there will be a children’s programme (suitable for 5- to 11-year-olds). This helps to introduce the youngest audience members to the enjoyment of hearing live music.

Tickets available from venue. Box office tel: 01325 406000. Buy online at ow.ly/V1upb (fee payable).
