St Andrew's Concert
Edinburgh Highland Reel and Strathspey Society
An evening of traditional Scottish fiddle music.
The Edinburgh Highland Reel & Strathspey Society is delighted to present an evening of music to celebrate St. Andrew’s Night. The orchestra, under the baton of well-known Scottish fiddlerYla Steven BEM, is sure to entertain you and get your feet tapping with a variety of marches, strathspeys, reels, jigs and slow airs.
In addition to the orchestra there will be singing from Satunum McElroy, piping from JamieWesthead and fiddle playing from Sarah Lynchehaun. There will also be a debut spot from our new young Junior Section.
Founded in 1881, the society was the first of its type. Its members are proud to continue that tradition today and 2016 has been a busy year so far. As well as their annual concert in the Queen’s Hall, among other performances, they made a recording for TheOne Show and took part in the Stirling Bridge International Arts Festival in Perth Concert Hall. In November they took part in the orchestra competition at Kirriemuir Fiddle Festival and won it for the fourth consecutive year.
Adults £10, Children Free. Tickets are available on the door.
