Fauré Requiem & Saint-Saëns No.3 "Organ" Symphony
English Arts Chorale Association
A 40th season celebration concert with full professional symphony orchestra.
Fauré's celebrated setting of the Requiem is one of the most popular of all works for choir and orchestra, its response to the human condition being framed in music of the utmost tenderness and sensitivity.
Saint-Saëns' Third Symphony has deliciously sensitive string writing too, but contrasts with immense grandeur from the full symphony orchestra, mighty organ, and piano. The refurbished organ of St Mary's Church will be put to the test by Alexander Binns, currently Director of Music at Derby Cathedral.
