1. Requiem Op 9 - Maurice Duruflé
2. Gloria - Francis Poulenc
3. Suite Carmelite - Jean Françaix
We invite you to join us for this enchanting evening of choral music and celebration as we close our season with a bang. It's a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of classical music and connect with fellow music lovers in our community.
We will be performing Duruflé's Requiem and Poulenc’s Gloria, accompanied by our talented organist Jonathan Lilley. In addition, Jonathan will also be playing a solo organ work, Suite Carmelite by Jean Françaix. The concert will start at 6:00pm - please note the time.
We are thrilled to welcome back Jay Britton as our soloist for the choral pieces. Jay is an oratorio soloist and operatic principal, having performed at prestigious venues across the UK and abroad, including Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome.
Don't miss the opportunity to experience the beautiful Suite Carmelite, which consists of six short movements adapted from Françaix's film score for La Dialogue des Carmélites. Jonathan describes the music as full of humour despite references to death, and the performance on the refurbished organ in St Mary's Church with its beautiful acoustic promises to be truly special.
Tickets for the concert and the party afterwards are both available online at www.englisharts.org.
£10, £15, £20; children and students £6; disabled+carer two for the price of one;
