Bruckner: Mass No.2 in E minor Stravinsky: Mass for choir and wind Brahms: Motets Opus 110 Prokofiev: Romeo & Juliet Suite for wind While there is a great deal of music for choir and orchestra – the latter ranging from baroque works for strings and, perhaps, a few woodwind players through to large-scale pieces requiring full symphony orchestra –much less-frequently heard are the handful of works where the choir is joined by an ensemble of wind and brass but without any strings. This concert provides a rare opportunity to remedy this. Despite there being many thousands of different musical settings of the mass it's amazing what variety can be found in versions by different composers, none more so than in this concert's contrasting pair by Bruckner and Stravinsky.
