Bonis and Beethoven
Finchley Symphony Orchestra
Mélanie Bonis was a Parisian late-romantic composer whose music suffered years of neglect despite winning high praise from contemporaries such as Saint-Saens. The Suite en forme de valses explores the waltz form in a wide variety of treatments
London-born German-Brazilian violinist Konrad Elias-Trostmann has performed around the world including at Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall, the Melbourne Recital Centre and Sala Cultural Itaím São Paulo. He joins Finchley Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Christopher Stark to play Beethoven’s monumental concerto.
Beethoven was working on his fourth and fifth symphonies at around the same time but they could hardly be more different. There is nothing ominous or portentous about the genial fourth which completes our programme, rather it bubbles with Beethovenian sparkle and wit.
