Clare Hammond plays Debussy, Fauré and Ravel
Fressingfield Sounds
Clare Hammond has devised a programme of works by French composers, all written (with one exception – the piece by Tailleferre) between 1898 and 1919, the Belle Epoque era. Beyond being encompassed by those 20 years or so, the works share a stylistic approach, often likened to the approach of the French Impressionist painters, active around the same time, even if Debussy himself was sceptical of the comparison.
