Handel Messiah

Hertfordshire Chorus

Messiah is probably the most well-known and performed choral work in the world. Written over only twenty-four days and first performed in 1742, its popularity is built upon a succession of powerful, beautiful and exciting choruses and solo writing.

Unlike most oratorios, Messiah is not structured as a drama with characters and narrative. Instead, it uses texts from the Bible to move from prophecies of the coming of the Messiah to the life of Jesus from birth to his death, resurrection and ascension.

Hertfordshire Chorus, under David Temple’s inspiring direction, is renowned for its powerful, emotional and precise performances and with four exceptionally gifted soloists and the always wonderful London Orchestra da Camera, this will be an occasion to delight and enthral you.
