Kingston Choral Society Christmas Concert - The Holy Birth

Kingston Choral Society

At 7.30pm on Saturday 20 December, Kingston Choral Society (KCS) warmly invites you to St Andrew’s Church, Maple Road, Surbiton, KT6 4DS, to celebrate the joy of the festive season at our annual Christmas Concert, a much-loved highlight of the borough’s cultural calendar.

This year’s programme features a performance of The Holy Birth by Herbert Sumsion, a rarely heard but radiant choral work retelling the Nativity story through expressive choral writing and beautiful carol settings. Alongside this, audiences will be treated to a sparkling selection of Christmas carols — with plenty of opportunities to join in the singing.
Festive cheer as well as splendid music will set the evening aglow. During the interval, audience will mingle with friends and choir members to enjoy seasonal refreshments, including mince pies and wine - a perfect atmosphere in which to usher in Christmas.
Andrew Griffiths, Musical Director of KCS, says:
"The Kingston Choral Society Christmas Concert is always a joyous occasion and great fun to conduct. This year we're looking forward to getting to know Sumsion's The Holy Birth, full of well-known Christmas melodies - and of course, singing some favourites carols with the help of the audience!"
Join KCS for an evening of uplifting choral music, and seasonal celebration.
