Ceremony of Carols

La Nova Singers

Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Ceremony of Carols’ captures the joy and anticipation of the festive season, with spine-tingling vocal harmonies accompanied by harp. The lyrics are taken from a book of Medieval poems, which captivated the composer with their sense of mystery: songs include the celebratory ‘Wolcum Yule’; the gently meditative ‘There Is No Rose’ and the exhilarating ‘This Little Babe’.

Alongside ‘A Ceremony of Carols’, the singers will perform well-loved Christmas songs such as:

  • The First Mercy - Peter Warlock
  • The Shepherd’s Farewell - Berlioz
  • Silent Night
  • Angels From the Realms of Glory
  • Ding Dong! Merrily on High
  • The Angels’ Carol - John Rutter

La Nova Singers are joined by musicians Katie Salomon, on harp, and Sam Hanson on piano and organ.

Mulled wine and warm mince pies will be available to purchase in the interval, for the perfect seasonal evening out!
