The Fruit of Silence. A choral feast for mixed choir and strings from four centuries

Leicester Bach Choir

The Leicester Bach Choir’s November concert The Fruit of Silence will take you on a thrilling journey across 400 years of music for choir, strings and piano, featuring a ravishing Bach aria, some rarely-heard Beethoven, astonishingly inventive chamber music by Brahms and Reger, hypnotic Vasks (a setting of words by Mother Theresa), music by Max Richter that will be familiar to many from visits to the cinema, charming miniatures by Eric Whitacre, and two luscious and exciting works from the pen of Ola Gjeilo.

Performing with the choir will be an all-star line-up, including the mezzo-soprano Karen Wise and players from the Bach Camerata: leader David Le Page, violinist Catalin Chelaru, violist Vanessa Murby, cellist Nick Stringfellow, alongside organist Ivan Linford and pianist Eleanor Meynell. And of course, you will be led on this magical journey by our inspiring music director and conductor, Richard Laing.

We’re confident that you’ll discover some new favourite works in this concert.  We’re very excited to share this wonderful music with you!
