Handel: Israel in Egypt | London Concert Choir

London Concert Choir

In this great oratorio, written three years before Messiah, the chorus takes the starring role in telling the Biblical story of the Hebrews’ escape from oppression and slavery in Egypt. Having set the scene, Handel’s music in Part 1 vividly depicts the succession of plagues that compelled the Pharaoh to release Moses and his people. Part 2 is a triumphant setting of Moses’ song of praise to the Lord for their deliverance.
