Mendelssohn - Elijah
North Herts Guild of Singers
Rehearsals are now well on for the North Herts Guild of Singers performance of Mendelssohn’s best-loved oratorio, Elijah, on 25 November. We are to be accompanied by the Beaufoy Sinfonia , made up of some of the most exciting young talents at the major London conservatoires. They were a joy to work with last autumn.
We have a stellar line-up of outstanding young soloists.
Soprano Sophie Benfield
Mezzo-soprano Maya Wheeler-Colwell
Tenor Philippe Durrant
Bass Johannes Moore
We shall be conducted by our MD, Harry Bradford. Harry is building quite a reputation, both in this country and abroad. He is just recently back from Sweden, where he conducted the world-renowned Swedish Radio Choir, in a concert in Stockholm.
You can expect rousing singing, beautiful arias and most importantly a committed and dramatic rendering of Mendelssohn’s quite fabulous story telling. There will be hurricanes and earthquakes, chariots of fire, evil queens and the holiest of visions – as well as some cracking choruses.
Do come along in November!
