Leonard Elschenbroich has established himself as one of the most charismatic cellists of his generation. Winner of many awards, see his website, in 2012 he was accepted onto the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme and was named as Artist-in-Residence of Deutschlandfunk for the 2014-15 season., and Artist-in-Residence at the Philharmonic Society Bremen in 2013.
For the fifth year in a row, Leonard has appeared at the BBC Proms, and this year he made his debut with the Hallé Orchestras and Music Director Sir Mark Elder with a performance of Colin Matthews’ “Berceuse for Dresden”, a work for cello and large orchestra, composed to commemorate the restoration of the Frauenkirche Dresden.
His programme for the OCMS. includes two Beethoven sonatas, a new work by Shimizu, and Stravinsky's very appealing "Suite Italienne"
