Belshazzar

Petros Singers

Handel’s resplendent dramatic Oratorio focuses on the desperate struggle for military and religious supremacy in the Persian Gulf, a story as relevant today as it was 2,500 years ago.

The all-star cast features: Robert Murray – Belshazzar (tenor); Emma Kirkby – Nitocris (soprano); James Hall – Cyrus (counter-tenor); Giles Underwood – Gobrias (bass); and David Allsopp – Daniel (counter-tenor).

Petros Singers is one of London’s leading amateur chamber choirs. We perform a wide variety of music to a high standard, placing particular emphasis on vibrant and communicative singing.

Musical Director, Richard Bannan, was a choral scholar at Clare College, Cambridge before embarking on a career as a professional vocal musician, arranger and teacher. He now sings as a Lay-Clerk at St George's Chapel, Windsor as well as with the major UK professional ensembles.

This concert is in memory of Grant Middleton, a much-loved bass who sang with Petros Singers for many years.
