Thomas Tallis Singing Workshop

Petros Singers

Join Petros Singers for an afternoon exploring the music of Thomas Tallis, arguably England's greatest choral composer. The workshop will cover motets and anthems from across Tallis' life – a period of unprecedented political and religious upheaval; few other composers so seamlessly adapted their own voice to reflect the times in which they lived.

The workshop will be led by Rory McCleery who, as artistic director of the Marian Consort, is at the forefront of a new generation of musicians finding fresh verve in this timeless music. Rory will provide some vocal technique and voice training through a selection of the motets and anthems. After a break for tea we will then have the opportunity to sing through the pieces we have rehearsed.

Rory directs and performs with The Marian Consort, the internationally-renowned early music vocal ensemble. In addition, he greatly enjoys working as a soloist and consort singer with leading specialist early music ensembles including The Monteverdi Choir, The Sixteen, The Gabrieli Consort and The Tallis Scholars.
