Phoenix Singers Come-and-Sing
MOZART REQUIEM
Saturday April 29th, 2.30pm – 7.30pm at Chirbury Church
After the resounding success of their Come-and-Sing Messiah in 2015, the Phoenix Singers of Shrewsbury are hosting a similar event this year, concentrating on one of the best-loved choral masterpieces – Mozart’s Requiem. Famously unfinished at the composer’s death, this work has always had an important place in the choral repertoire, and the afternoon will be spent rehearsing under the baton of Phoenix Singers’ conductor Richard Walker. There will be an accompanying orchestra, soloists and a splendid high tea before the final performance at 6.30pm.
Richard Walker said: “This promises to be a really exciting occasion. We have the use of Chirbury Church, one of the largest and finest for miles around; there will be accompaniment by an orchestra led by Paul Bramwell, soloists including Tenor Ian Yemm who is coming to Shropshire specially for the occasion. There is ample car parking and there will be an interval with high tea between rehearsal and performance. If you haven’t sampled Phoenix Singers catering, then delay no longer! That alone makes it worth coming to this event.

Timetable for singers:
2.30pm: Arrive
4.00pm: Interval
5.15pm: High Tea
6.30pm: Performance, ending around 7.30pm
If you can’t make the afternoon but would like to hear the performance, entry is FREE of charge. No booking is required but a donation is welcome
