Queen's Jubilee Family Matinee
Ripon St Cecilia Society Ltd
In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubliee, St Cecilia Orchestra invites you to a special family matinée in Ripon Cathedral. Presented and narrated by Nidderdale actor and playwrite, Nevin Ward, this is a fantastic opportunity for families and younger children to experience the excitement of live orchestral music in the majestic surroundings of Ripon Cathedral.
The 30 minute programme consists of two fantastic English orchestral works: William Walton’s famous Orb and Sceptre march, specially composed for the Queen’s coronation, and Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra – described by Classic FM as ‘an epic tour of the instruments of the orchestra, with some of the catchiest and most charming music ever composed’.
Tickets, priced at £5 for adults and FREE for under 18's, can be bought through the orchestra website (www.st-cecilia.org.uk), from the Little Ripon Bookshop and Henry Roberts, or reserved by phone on 01423 531062. Tickets will also be available on the door.
