Although sometime overlooked, Beethoven's 4th symphony is closer to his first two and is cheerful and engaging. Bruckner's Symphony no 4, the 'Romantic' is probably his most popular work and was adored at its debut in 1881. Our programme is completed by the delightful 'On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring' by Delius.
