The Sprig of Thyme - SCS Spring Concert
Stevenage Choral Society
We're on the move! - This concert picks out songs from different countries.
John Rutter's collection of English Folk song settings - "Sprig of Thyme" - will be one of the main items in the next concert. In terms of other lands there will be Bob Chilcott's "Furusato" - a collection of settings of 5 Japanese songs (sung in English!), Howard Goodall's settings of three Irish folk songs and "A Manx Lullaby" by Malcolm Pointon.
John Rutter is best known for his Christmas Carol settings and Bob Chilcott for his more Jazzy based works. Howard Goodall has more public awareness due to his TV appearances and his setting of Psalm 23 "The Lord is my Shepherd" (which was used as the theme music for "The Vicar of Dibley").
So the concert will be full of beautiful and easy listening tunes.
Please note that our venue is currently the home to Knebworth Library and hence has restricted seating. At the time of writing we don't know whether the library will still be sited there so we advise booking tickets early to guarantee a seat.
Adult: £13 (£15 on the day), Under 16s £6 - available via Contacts page on Choir website. (see link below for online tickets and their cost)
