RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Scheherazade

Conductor: Andrew Morley
Leader: Christian Halstead
Under the baton of outstanding conductor Andrew Morley, we present an evening that spans the globe and the imagination.
The concert opens with the rousing Peterloo Overture by Sir Malcolm Arnold, followed by Coleridge-Taylor’s evocative Symphonic Variations on an African Air composed in 1906, which is based on an African-American song, “I’m troubled in mind”.
The evening culminates in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, a much-loved and colourful symphonic suite that brings the tales of the Arabian Nights to vivid life.
