Love Songs in the Afternoon

Our programme this afternoon portrays the many aspects of love. Men and women adoring each other, complaining of betrayal, or mourning a great loss: the same age-old themes can be found in the Tudor court, the Broadway musical, and the English countryside. The countryside setting is reflected in a scattering of traditional songs and fiddle tunes from Ireland.
