‘The Crucifixion – a Meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer’ – by John Stainer

Weymouth Choral Society’s concert for Easter will feature the dramatic and reflective choral work, ‘The Crucifixion’, together with a selection of choral and solo sacred pieces.

To complement Stainer’s ‘Meditation’, the first half of the programme will feature extracts from Vaughan Williams’ ‘5 Mystical Songs’ and Howard Goodall’s ‘Eternal Light: A Requiem’, with further pieces by Britten, Quilter, Sullivan and Durante.

We will be joined by soloists Michael Aitkenhead (Tenor) and Michael Dewis (Bass) with organist Simon Earl and pianist Louise Dukes.
