Morten Lauridsen's exciting Fire Songs based on Italian Renaissance poems and deeply-touching Chansons des Roses form the core of this Italian and French programme, mixing Italian madrigals by Gastoldi, Gesualdo and Monteverdi with pieces by Faure, including Les Djins, and Ravel's entertaining and virtuosic Chansons.
