Music for Peace - Sir Karl Jenkins, Sir Henry Walford-Davies
Wooburn Singers
Wooburn Singers have an unusual and moving programme of music and poetry to mark 100 years since the end of the first world war.
Walford Davies' Short Requiem, first published in 1915, was composed 'In Sacred Memory of all those who have fallen in the war'.
Karl Jenkins: The Armed Man - a Mass for Peace, was first performed in 2000 and dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo crisis. The concert suite comprises the stirring Hymn before Action and the 4 movements from the Latin mass, including the Benedictus with its haunting cello solo.
All the music will be interwoven with WWI poetry by Wilfred Owen, Thomas Hardy & many others.
The concert is the final event in the Wooburn Festival.
