Three, superb, sea-themed choral and orchestral works performed in the soaring surroundings of Worcester Cathedral, conclude Worcester Festival Choral Society's 2019-20 concert season with a 'Mayflower 2020' theme.
'Behold, the sea!' Vaughan Williams’ strikingly original, breath-taking choral work A Sea Symphony is imbued with a sense of adventure and the mighty power of the sea. From the thrilling opening brass fanfare to its final notes conjuring a vision of panoramic horizons, you'll be set for a memorable musical voyage.
Mendelssohn's unmistakable Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave) and Britten's vivid Four Sea Interludes (from the opera Peter Grimes) will also be performed by the Meridian Sinfonia symphony orchestra.
Singing with the 150 members of Worcester Festival Choral Society are acclaimed soloists: Sarah Fox, soprano and Julien Van Mellaerts, baritone.
WFCS and Worcester Cathedral Director of Music Samuel Hudson conducts.
